Homework
Listed below you will find homework information for this year. Your child works very hard each day at school. For this reason, I truly want students to take time in order to enjoy being with family and to be a kid! This is so important! You will find that I do not require a substantial amount of homework on a daily basis. I do however, offer optional components. Based upon your child's unique needs, additional resources may be sent home throughout the year. Also, I have included great activities on this website should you want your child to have additional resources at home.
Literacy Homework:
*Required-Please have your child read at least 20 minutes Monday-Friday. You or your child will also need to complete a reading log nightly. You will log how many minutes read with parent initials. Students will choose 2 books from their book baggies each day to bring home. If you need additional texts to come home please let me know.
Optional- Comprehension practice (questions will be sent in Boomerang binder and/or posted on Class Dojo.) Extra comprehension questions will be sent throughout the year. You can orally ask your child 1-2 questions or have your child work on writing their responses. This does not need to be turned in to me unless you would like feedback on your child's response.
*We will be using the program Words their Way for phonics instruction. This is a program catered to your child's unique spelling/phonics needs. Once their beginning of the year group is established, this information will be communicated so that you may practice these skills at home.
*Math homework:
Required: Each Monday a math sheet will be sent home. This sheet will need to be returned by Friday each week.
*If you wish for your child to have extra practice in addition to what is being sent home, please refer to the helpful websites section of the website. The sites listed will be great for extra practice with literacy and math.
*Boomerang Binder:
Homework and important information will be located in your child's Boomerang binder. This binder will go from school to home each day. Please be sure it is checked daily, returned each day, and kept organized.
*Wednesday Folder:
Each Wednesday your child will come home with their Wednesday folder. This will include completed work. You will be required to sign the folder and may keep completed work at home. (Unless otherwise noted).
